Hummock Island grows oysters on family-owned tidelands along the Connecticut shore. The company’s roots date back to 1857 when the Northrop family of Westport first harvested oysters from the waters of Sherwood Mill Pond. The pond is a natural breeding ground for shellfish and chefs including Dan Barber of Blue Hill at Stone Barns and Claus Meyer of NOMA are regular customers.
Tours & Private Events
We started doing farm tours a few summers ago to share the magic of being on the water and to help tell the story of our company to eager oyster lovers. The best way to experience Hummock Island is to host a private event. We accommodate parties from 10 people to 130 people. Everything from small family picnics on a Sunday afternoon to large corporate parties with fully catered dinners and champagne rawbars.
